THIS IS THE WEBSITE OF THE LEONARDO DA VINCI THEMATIC MONITORING GROUP 1.
Thematic monitoring activities is an initiative of the European Commission that aims to increase the visibiltiy of the Leonardo da Vinci vocational education programme across 31 European countries with the aim of exchanging experience and supporting the mainstreaming of results and findings into national and European vocational education and training structures.
THE AIM OF THE WORK IN TG1 IS TO :
- Highlight the role of VET in promoting labour market and social integration
- Promote eductaion as a weel to social inclusion and employment
- Remove barriers by creating open learning environments and flexible approaches to learning
In 2007 two events have neem organised by the group, both addressed to project promoters and beneficiaries, policy makers, experts, VET practitioners and others interested in the theme. The Voice of the Users in Guidance is the title of the first conference held in Slovenia 10 - 11 May. Entrepreneurship in vocational education - a key to social inclusion and economic development in Europe is the title of the second conference held in Reykjavík 11 - 12. October.

Cedofop report on career development at work (03.09.2008)
Recently, Cedefop (The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training) published a new report on career development at work. The report is a review of career guidance to support people in employment. It provides a preliminary overview of guidance provision in the workplace the will need to be completed and updated in the years to come.

Evidence-based policy-making in guidance - Increasing the voice of young adults in developing education-to-work transitions (17.12.2007)
The peer learning event was organised by Cedefop in Thessaloniki on 19-20 November 2007. The event aimed at finding ways on how to involve young people in guidance policy-making to a greater extent as well as how to exploit/utilise the current evidence-base for improving young adults’ transition from education and training into the labour market. Some 20 invited experts (social partners, researchers, trainers, project managers, administrators, practitioners, and students) from several European countries participated in the event.

Follow up seminar on the Voice of Users in Guidance (13.11.2007)
On the 12th of November 2007 a seminar on the Voice of Users in Guidance was helt at the University of Iceland. This was a follow up seminar of the conference “The Voice of Users in Guidance” which was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia last May and was organised by the Icelandic Leonardo da Vinci office, the Icelandic Euroguidance Centre and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.

Successful Conference in Reykjavík, 97 participants from 20 countries. (02.11.2007)
The conference “Entrepreneurship in Vocational Education” was held in Reykjavík, Iceland 11- 12 October. 97 people from 20 countries participated.
